Oroville Hospital welcomes new Orthopedic Surgeon, Christopher Jobe, M.D., R.M.S.K., who will be joining the Oroville Orthopedic Group alongside Robert Ching, M.D. and Brian Ching, M.D. Dr. Jobe is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has been practicing for over 30 years.
“Dr. Jobe uses advanced orthopedic techniques such as musculoskeletal ultrasound, which is a new diagnostic approach to our region,” said Robert J. Wentz, President and Chief Executive Officer. “His skill as an orthopedic surgeon allows the hospital to provide alternative treatments to patients along with high quality care.”
Dr. Jobe received his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in 1975 and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University. He also pursued fellowship training in sports medicine to advance his knowledge and skill. He has been practicing as an orthopedic surgeon at Loma Linda University Medical Center since finishing his professional training.
“The field of orthopedics is developing so rapidly that it never gets stale,” said Dr. Jobe. “I challenge myself to stay apprised of new techniques and developments in this field to better serve my patients.”
Dr. Jobe specializes in shoulder and knee surgery, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and sports injuries. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is an advanced non-invasive technique, which allows physicians to diagnose soft-tissue abnormalities such as carpal tunnel, rotator cuff tears, bursitis or shoulder dislocations. While many physicians use this procedure to aid injection placement, diagnostic ultrasound requires experience to clearly detect structural and dynamic abnormalities if visible by ultrasound.
“Patients appreciate the ability to utilize musculoskeletal ultrasound compared to other traditional methods which might involve lengthy procedures or nerve probes,” Jobe says. “It is one way in which we can help patients regain their mobility faster.”
