NRP is an education program of the American Acedemy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association (AHA) which teaches concepts and skills of neonatal resuscitation. Learners are required to study the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th Edition, 2011 (or view the mulitmedia DVD-ROM included with the textbook) and pass the online examination* prior to attending any NRP Skills Course. Scheduled course time, therefore, is used for demonstration, hands-on practice, skill evaluation, discussion, and simulation.
*The online exam on the AAP website which must be taken no more than 30 days before your scheduled class. The cost of the online exam through the AAP website is $23.50. This is an upfront fee that must be paid to the AAP through their website. You will find more information and instruction at www.aap.org/nrp.
You may complete all offered lessons; however:
Nurses are required to complete lessons 1-4, 6 and 9
Respiratory Therapists are required to complete lessons 1-5 and 9
All Physicians are required to complete lessons 1 – 9
There is a distinct possibility you will come in contact with substances designed to mimic bodily fluids. Please dress accordingly.
8 hours of CE credit are awarded upon successful completion of the one day course.
Students receive an American Acedemy of Pediatricscompletion card which is valid for two years.
