In order to see a more in-depth view of the intestinal tract Oroville Hospital uses the newest state-of-the-art technology the Endo Capsule. This piece of technology allows us to see areas that cannot be reached by other methods and  allow us to diagnose more accurately than before. The capsule is the size of a vitamin capsule and consists of a high-resolution camera, and a transmitter. The single-use capsule is easily swallowed with a glass of water. Once swallowed, the capsule will begin transmitting images of the digestive system to a receiver worn comfortably on a belt, on the patient’s hip. This exam is sedation-free, and the patient can go about their normal daily routine. The Endo Capsule captures images that supplies physicians with a full examination of the small bowel which is not easily accessible by conventional upper or lower endoscopies. This piece of technology gives our physicians a more in-depth view of the intestinal tract, allowing for greater success for diagnosis and treatment.
