Managing Diabetes and a Healthy Lifestyle at Oroville
Oroville Hospital offers diabetes lifetime skills training to diabetic patients to help them live a healthy, active lifestyle. We strive to provide an individualized plan of care that fosters ongoing support for attaining the best possible outcomes. Diabetes is a major worldwide issue, with 26 million cases in the United States alone. An estimated 7 million of those people do not even know they have it, and the disease may be active for years before diagnosis.
Because of these statistics, Oroville Hospital takes a very proactive approach to diabetes treatment through education and encouragement of healthy lifestyle choices. Our diabetic educators offer individualized, one-on-one instruction and we work closely with your physician to provide seamless continuity of care. The American Association of Diabetes Educator's curriculum for Self Management Care and Education serves as the basis for our program. And Oroville Hospital’s Certified Diabetes Educator has met the requirement for practice as outlined by the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
While there is currently no cure for diabetes, there is hope. Early detection of diabetes or pre-diabetes, patient/family education, and proper treatment can work to control diabetes and give individuals the best options for healthier, longer lives. The key to a healthy lifestyle for diabetics is managing the disease through medication, diet, and exercise.
