At
Oroville Hospital, we know that childbirth is a very special occasion.
Our highly qualified staff of obstetricians and maternity nurses
provide state-of-the-art birthing services, but they also strive
to make your birth experience a memorable family event.
While you are with us, we'll do our best to accommodate your
personal preferences. We have both obstetricians and nurse midwives
on staff to deliver your baby. You can elect a "natural"
childbirth, or ask for assistance with pain management including
epidural anesthesia and pericervical blocks. Our nurses will be
there to coach you through labor, and can help you stay comfortable
using guided imagery and relaxation techniques.
Once
your baby is born, you'll have a choice of keeping your infant
with you, so-called "rooming in." Or, we are happy to
care for your baby in our nursery should you need a rest. If you
wish, our certified lactation specialist will pay you a visit
to educate you about breastfeeding. Before you leave, we'll even
snap a few newborn photos for your baby album, and offer you a
special, champagne dinner for two to celebrate your new addition
to the family!
When you have your baby at Oroville Hospital, you can feel secure
knowing that our physicians are board certified (or board eligible)
and that our nursing staff includes RNs specially certified in
obstetrics. More than 600 babies are born at Oroville Hospital
each year. With four labor and delivery suites and ten post-partum
rooms, our birthing center is equipped with the latest technology
to monitor and care for your baby throughout labor and delivery.
And we have added hearing tests to our routine list of newborn
screenings. Our Obstetrical Department follows American College
of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) practice guidelines and standards
for nurse staffing levels.
