Sixteen million Americans have diabetes. Five million of those don't know it. Diabetes is a serious disease that can lead to blindness, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and amputations. It is the fourth leading cause of death from disease in the United States. While there is currently no cure for diabetes, there is hope. Early detection and proper treatment work to control diabetes and limit or prevent complications.
At Oroville Hospital, we offer diabetes lifetime skills training because diabetes doesn't have to keep you from living a normal life - as long as you know how to manage it. Our diabetic educators offer formal classes at regular intervals throughout the year, as well as individualized, one-on-one instruction. We work closely with your physician to provide seamless continuity of care. You must have a doctor's order to begin either of these education programs, but anyone can join our diabetic support group. Oroville Hospital's diabetic education program is certified by the American Diabetes Association.
