More than 60 million Americans suffer from cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular testing is an important tool in assessing and managing
the risk of cardiovascular diseases and determining the outcome
(prognosis) of a particular disorder.
Oroville Hospital's cardiovascular testing facility administers
a broad spectrum of tests carried out by experienced, registered
technicians.
-
Electrocardiogram (EKG) - measurement and
analysis of heart rate and rhythm to identify irregular heart
beat patterns.
-
24 and 48 hour Holter Monitoring - heart
rhythm is monitored continuously and recorded during regular
daily activities over a 24 to 48 hour period.
-
Exercise Treadmill Testing - recording of
the electrical activity of the heart under the stress of exercise
while walking on a treadmill. Our facility conducts both Persantine
and Cardiolyte tests, if needed, to assess heart function.
-
Event Recorder - a recording device sent
with a patient for a month-long period to monitor unusual
heart-related episodes such as excessively rapid heart rate
and abnormal rhythms.
-
Echocardiogram - echocardiography uses
sound waves to create a detailed image of the heart in action,
usually performed to evaluate the valves and chambers of the
heart. Stress echocardiography, conducted during an exercise
test, is also available.
-
Segmental Blood Pressures - blood pressure
measurements are taken using inflatable cuffs placed in multiple
locations on the arms and legs. Segmental measurements give
information about blood flow through arteries for the detection
of blockages or occlusions.
-
Carotid Duplex Scans - ultrasound is used
to obtain an image of the inside of the walls and interior
of the carotid artery. Carotid duplex scans detect narrowing
of the artery and/or plaque which may be affecting the flow
of blood through the artery.
-
Venous Scans - ultrasound scanning of veins
to detect and assess blockage due to blood clots.
