Getting
Started

When to Come
Your doctor will arrange your admission and notify you of the date
and time to come to the hospital.
In-Room Admitting Process
When
you arrive at Oroville Hospital, you will be taken directly to your
room where an admissions clerk will complete an "in-room"
admission. Our admissions clerk will ask you to sign an admission
consent form and will inquire whether you wish information about
advance healthcare directives.
The admission consent form authorizes our medical staff and hospital
personnel to care for you while you are in the hospital. All patients
must sign this form. If you are under the age of eighteen years,
a parent or legal guardian must sign for you. Should you require
surgery or need a special diagnostic procedure, you will be asked
to sign a separate consent form or forms.
Once in your room, you will be greeted by a member of our nursing
staff. Your nurse will ask questions about your health history and
will make an initial assessment of your condition. She or he will
also show you how to use the nurse call bell and television controls,
and will instruct you in general hospital procedures.
For a speedy and efficient admission process, please come prepared
with the following items:
- Valid picture identification.
- A list of all medications you are currently taking.
- Health insurance, Medi-Cal or Medicare card.
- Advance Healthcare Directive form or other advance directive.
- Your Social Security Number.
What to Bring
We suggest that you bring a few personal items that you will need
as a patient, such as slippers, bathrobe, and toiletries.
Valuables
We urge you to keep all money, valuables, and items of sentimental
value at home or to leave them with your family. If you wish temporary
storage of valuables, your nurse can place items in the hospital
safe. Oroville Hospital cannot accept responsibility for valuables
left in your room.
