  • Current BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Redcross for Healthcare Providers
  • Fluoro license

Qualifications: 

  • Prefer minimum of one year experience in Interventional Radiology
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Redcross for Healthcare Providers
  • Working knowledge of interventional equipment (including C-ARM and Ultrasound equipment), procedures and materials/supplies needed for each procedure
  • Experience with special procedures utilizing a C-ARM
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment to be utilized when operating radiology systems
  • Experience with monitoring and maintaining inventory
  • Proficient use of PACS computers and related software such as Microsoft Office products
  • Fluoro license

Responsibilities: 

 Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Tech is able to perform at a proficient level of all radiology procedures related to the Interventional Radiology lab in both acute and stable patients. Able to scrub, assist, and perform all other tasks as needed to perform all cases in the IR lab to include kyphoplasty , pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and intervention within the scope of practice.

Duties

  • Perform various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures and state and federal regulations
  • Reviews patient specific procedure orders to determine materials/supplies that will be needed
  • Sets up/stocks the procedure room/procedure trays with needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure
  • Cleans room post procedure, including cleaning any equipment and machinery
  • Conducts all necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents when appropriate
  • Explains basic procedure to the patient, answers questions and addresses patient concerns
  • Assists with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving and prepping
  • Performs patient transfers and positioning of patients and transports patient to and from procedure room
  • Inputs patient data into the C-Arm
  • Acts as scrub assistant assisting the physician during the interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, maintaining a sterile technique according to the established company policies and procedures and state and federal law
  • Processes x-ray images and archives to a CD or DVD to comply with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures for patient medical records and state regulations
  • Assists with implementing Oroville Hospital quality goals and facility specific action plans in order to achieve Oroville Hospital quality standards
  • Ensures medical records are accurate, complete and in compliance with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures. Maintains the integrity of medical records and documents in real time
  • Ensures patient billing is accurate and timely by reviewing all procedures, documenting patient equipment charges and verifying CPT and ICD 10 codes are correct
  • Assists with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics. Ensures all areas are clean, sanitary and safe on a daily basis. Ensures all equipment and instruments are in proper working condition by inspecting equipment on a daily basis before and after procedures
  • Makes recommendations regarding replacement of equipment and repairs
  • Assists with disposal of hazardous waste materials, dirty linen and rugs
  • Prepares, organizes, and efficiently utilizes supplies and equipment to prevent wastage
  • Ensures effective communication with Physicians and Staff
  • Works with Physicians and staff to ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are on hand
  • Addresses Physician concerns in areas of responsibility
  • May assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures related to radiography to ensure continuous process improvement
  • Assists in training and orienting new employees on the equipment
  • Assists with inventory ordering of supplies and re-stocking supplies
  • Complies with HIPAA policies and standards in regards to patient confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, or controls; each with hands and arms; and talk to hear. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods, occasionally required to sit, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with help.
