OROVILLE HOSPITAL ATTAINS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION FROM THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS METABOLIC AND BARIATRIC SURGERY ACCREDITATION AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

This accreditation demonstrates Oroville Hospital’s commitment to ensuring safe and effective performance of metabolic and bariatric surgery.

OROVILLE, Calif. (November 20, 2025) – Oroville Hospital has received accreditation under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This signifies the hospital’s dedication to consistently improve procedures and maintain safe and effective weight loss surgeries for patients.

The accreditation program is a joint quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

MBSAQIP is a comprehensive, nationwide surgical quality program aimed at providing a safe and effective performance of metabolic and bariatric surgery. Surgical outcomes focus on weight loss and the treatment of obesity-related diseases, like diabetes, sleep apnea, and others. Research shows accredited centers experience lower complications, and better outcomes than non-accredited facilities.

“I am proud of our surgeons and medical staff for their ongoing dedication to this service line enhancement”, said Oroville Hospital Metabolic and Bariatric Coordinator, Julie Newfarmer. “This accreditation reflects our steadfast commitment to patient safety and quality care in Butte County.

With a wealth of experience in her field, Bariatric Surgeon at Oroville Hospital, Victoria Konovalova, DO, conveys her appreciation, “This accreditation signifies our commitment to the highest standards in surgical quality, assuring optimal results for our patients,” states Konovalova. “I am thankful to collaborate with a talented and devoted team of professionals who consistently demonstrate their support for the ongoing excellence of our program.”

As an MBSAQIP-accredited hospital, Oroville Hospital also becomes an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. Being a Surgical Quality Partner signifies a hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures, while maintaining a critical eye on process at every step.

The Surgical Quality Partner designation lets patients know Oroville Hospital is dedicated to quality and relentless self-improvement and has been verified or accredited by the ACS. Patients can trust that the care they receive at Surgical Quality Partner hospitals adheres to the most rigorous standards in surgical quality.
