Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy utilizes purposeful, goal-directed activity to prevent, improve or restore physical and/or cognitive impairments to allow patients to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Services include:

  • Specialized self-care training to increase independence
  • Community reintegration and life skills training
  • Assessment and treatment for work performance skills
  • Home management training
  • Home safety and accessibility evaluations and recommendations
  • Cognitive and visual-perceptual retraining
  • Community reintegration training
  • Life skills training
  • Assessment, fitting, and training for use of adaptive and assistive equipment and splints
  • Joint protection training for arthritis
  • Low vision training in conjunction with an optometrist to improve functional vision and improve ability to use low-vision aids, techniques and technology in everyday life
  • Body mechanics and ergonomics training to improve independence and reduce pain with work or everyday tasks
  • Family training
  • Upper extremity (arm and hand) strengthening, stretching  and coordination training to improve functional use
  • CCS-paneled Occupational Therapist on staff

At Oroville Hospital's Rehabilitation Center, we also have the only Saebo-trained therapist in Oroville able to fit and train you with a Saebo device aimed at regaining arm and hand function after stroke or head injury.
