Oroville Hospital Celebrates New Psychiatry Residents and Promotion of Inaugural Class
Members of the Butte County community, business leaders, hospital medical staff and faculty gathered to celebrate the Maguire Neuropsychiatric Institute of Oroville Hospital newest resident class and promotion of its inaugural class.
The hospital-based psychiatry residency program is the only program of its kind in the region. The curriculum provides residents with comprehensive training in areas such as Neurology, Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, and Community Psychiatry.
The nine new residents have begun their first year of training post medical school and will focus on developing foundational knowledge and skills.

The hospital was honored to promote its inaugural class. The six PGY-1 and two PGY-2 residents are now progressing into their second and third year of post-graduate training, refining their expertise in specialized areas and expanding their responsibilities.

The event also included a ribbon cutting ceremony to signify a new partnership with the hospital, Butte County Sheriff’s Department and Wellpath. We look forward to sharing more details about the partnership very soon and how it will add to the resident’s robust preparation, equipping them to thrive professionally while strengthening local healthcare services.
Pictured here are moments captured at the welcome event, celebrating another significant milestone in improving mental healthcare services in the North Valley.
