Oroville Hospital welcomes new primary care physician, David Lounsberry, M.D. who will be joining the new multi-specialty practice at Dove’s Landing alongside Aaron Bowen, M.D., Thomas Mundorff, M.D. and Norman Challburg, M.D. Dr. Lounsberry is board certified in family medicine and has been practicing for over 40 years.

Wentz, President and CEO. “He is a dedicated physician whose knowledge and experience in family practice and general medicine will be a great asset to the hospital and community. The addition of another primary care physician will allow us to serve the health needs of many more individuals.”
After receiving his medical degree from Loma Linda University, Dr. Lounsberry returned to his home state of Illinois to complete his training. His passion for helping in areas with limited healthcare access led him to practice medicine in various rural regions throughout the country. He was instrumental in creating a thriving EMT program at a small Wyoming hospital to serve the emergency response needs of the community. He also practiced at a rural health clinic and opened a remote satellite clinic in Tennessee.
“My goal is to treat patients as a whole and focus on preventive medicine rather than solely treating the disease,” said Dr. Lounsberry. “I try to give personalized care and take an interest in patients as individuals. I emphasize a wholistic approach to health with balanced nutrition, exercise and a healthy lifestyle for patients.”
Before joining Oroville Hospital, Dr. Lounsberry practiced most recently in California’s Lake County where he received the 2014 Doctor of the Year Award. His love of the mountains, skiing, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking make Northern California a natural fit.
Common conditions seen in primary care include diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, respiratory issues, obesity and health issues related to inactivity.
