Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The Psychologist performs primary intensive therapy services to patients, clients and their families, providing evaluation of problems presented and developing and implementing treatment plans. Works in various settings including inpatient and outpatient.

Duties

  • Provide effective individual, family and group psychotherapy
  • Determine realistic goals for psychotherapy
  • Provides evaluation of problems presented and develops and implements treatment plans
  • Demonstrate an understanding of patient needs when devising and implementing treatment
  • May supervise clinical staff, inpatient and outpatient
  • Prepares case histories with particular emphasis on psycho-social factors affecting patients or clients
  • Cooperates with other staff members and with community agencies in carrying out treatment plans
  • Interprets and explains to clients, their families and community groups the social and emotional factors pertaining to illness
  • Performs evaluations on potentially suicidal or depressed individuals
  • Evaluates and assesses patients exhibiting bizarre, suicidal or agitated behavior upon request of medical staff
  • Confers with Community Health Staff regarding the status of clients and previous counseling histories in accordance with the confidentiality provision of the law
  • Writes and maintains records and reports regarding client status and action taken
  • Provides mental health information to the community
  • Provide team consultation in conjunction with psychiatrist
  • Performs related duties as required

Lifting Requirements:

Light- generally lifting not more than 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
