  • Prior experience in healthcare field or clinic setting preferred
  • Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is preferred (e.g., physician office, clinic or hospital
  • Excellent Customer Service skills are required
  • Must possess basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Ability to multi- task and prioritize work
  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills
  • Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization
  • Must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in the care of patients
  • Bilingual preferred

Job Summary

The Lead Surgery Scheduler will serve as a member of the healthcare team by overseeing the surgery scheduling efforts in the clinics. This person will serve as the liaison between the schedulers and Clinic Management.

Duties

  • Oversees surgery schedulers
  • Ensures orders for surgery are acknowledged by schedulers and acted upon timely in accordance with clinic, physician, and hospital protocols
  • Monitor pending cases per scheduler on Surgical Dashboard
  • Assists with scheduling efforts by auditing surgery dashboard and troubleshoot barriers to ensure timely scheduling
  • Assure authorizations, clearances, clinical and insurance information is obtained prior to scheduled surgery date
  • Helps identify problems, recommends and implements process improvements
  • Ability to fill in as a Clinic Surgery Scheduler as needed
  • Communicates on a daily basis with Clinic Supervisor, OR Department, Pre op Clinic and Financial Counseling
  • Continuously monitor the OR schedule to fill open blocks and communicate gaps in the OR schedule to the clinic schedulers
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Complies with personnel policies and hospital safety policies
  • Keep open lines of communication with the physicians, patients and management
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients and the public.
  • Answers the phones in a professional and courteous manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Lifting Requirements:

Semi- Sedentary: Sits and walks throughout workday

This position requires periods of extensive sitting and phone work.  Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail in the midst of other activity

Generally lifting objects not more than 25 lbs. and/or carrying objects weighing 10 lbs.
