Sara Michele Morris, CCC-SLP received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders through California State University, Chico. She worked as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant for three years before returning to CSU Chico to earn her Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She has been working at Oroville Hospital since her graduation in 2020.  She provides speech therapy though Oroville Hospital in the outpatient, Home Health, and acute care settings.  She typically treats patients with language and speech sound delays, ASD, phonological disorders, articulation disorders, language disorders, oral/sensory aversions, and picky eating.  Sara has also completed a Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) course. This training allows therapist to observe pharyngeal swallowing in patient who may be experiencing swallow deficits.

When treating patients, Sara obtains insight to what families are hoping to gain from speech therapy for their child, generate goals to focus on, and determine the best course of action to support those goals. When working with pediatric patients, it is important to remember the importance of keeping therapy fun in order to promote interest in working on the child’s goals in both the structured therapy setting and in their home. What Sara enjoys most about her work is being able to engage children with language and build upon their current abilities in regards to communication and play skills, as well as teaching children how their words, whether verbal, gestural, written or icons, are powerful. 

Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking trips to the park, swimming, watching movies and relaxing.
