OROVILLE, Calif. (November 09, 2021) – A new study released from the Lown Institute, has identified Oroville Hospital as one of the country’s top 10 most efficient hospitals. Out of the 3,000 plus hospitals from all over the US that were analyzed, Oroville Hospital ranked number 6.
“Being a community-centered hospital, our entire team works deliberately to ensure we are providing high quality care that yields positive outcomes, while also ensuring time, money and resources aren’t being wasted unnecessarily” states Oroville Hospital’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert J. Wentz.
To determine ‘cost-efficiency’ in this study, researchers compared a hospital’s 30-day and 90-day mortality rate, to how much they were billing Medicare for services. Hospitals that ranked well showed that they were able to provide the best health outcomes (low mortality rates) while also keeping Medicare costs low.
The analysis determined that if all hospitals preformed as efficiently as Oroville Hospital and other top ranking organizations, the United States could save approximately $8 billion annually in Medicare spending.
