Qualifications:
|
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program, gerontology or related field preferred
- Prefer Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or working towards obtaining license
- Prefer a minimum of five years of work related experience in long-term care or other related programs
- Prefer experience in advanced practice areas like clinical assessment, supervision, and program management
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, staff, and community agencies
- Exhibit a positive attitude
- Social work assessment and counseling skills
- Knowledge of state and federal programs that provide medical care and financial support to individuals
- Maintain ongoing education to understand and initiate changes in social service program that are current with regulatory requirements for all Oroville Hospital facilities.

Job Summary
Social Services Supervisor has responsibility for the supervision and daily operations of Social Workers assigned to all Oroville Hospital facilities. Oversees and directs the work of the Social Workers and other staff of the social service program designed to meet the individual physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of the patients, meets the State and Federal regulations and standards of the healthcare delivery established by Oroville Hospital. Directly accountable to the RN Manager-Psychiatric for the administrative, educational, and regulatory compliance of the Social Services (SS) Division and its staff and work with the Director of the Maguire Neuropsychiatric Institute of Oroville Hospital.
Duties
- Provide guidance to Social Workers with preadmission services, including bio psychosocial assessments and participation in interdisciplinary evaluation of the individual’s needs for care and preparation of the incoming patients.
- Provide guidance to Social Workers with identification of needs and coordination of services so that bio-psychosocial needs of each patient are met.
- Provide guidance to Social Workers in the development and reassessment, per schedule and as needed, of individualized social service and interdisciplinary care plans designed to meet the bio-psychosocial needs of patient.
- Guide Social Workers with assisting patients and responsible parties in location and using financial, legal, mental health, and other community resources.
- Communicates with RN Manager and Neuropsychiatric program staff regarding problems, interventions or decisions made by Supervisor
- Oversee and direct individual, group, and family services focused on the maintenance or enhancement of the patient’s bio-psychosocial functioning and understanding of their health status; services may include assistance with the following: concerns related to the patient’s illness, disability, treatment, financial, and medical decision making; placement and expectation of care; transfers internal and external and reestablishing community living and coping with separation, loss, dying, and death
- Coordinate with Social Workers to provide health and mental health social work services to patients to assist with attaining or maintaining the highest practical mental and psychosocial well-being, while helping patients who display mental or psychosocial difficulty receive appropriate treatment and services
- Provide education and resource support to staff participating in behavioral interventions for patients.
- Coordinate safe discharge planning and follow–up services in coordination with the Social Workers.
- Understands and utilizes the chain of command as needed to provide or guide quality patient care
- Investigates incidents, discusses with staff as appropriate and reports all information to the appropriate the RN Manager.
- Has current knowledge of job descriptions and scope of Social Services staff
- Has current knowledge of hospital, clinic, and long-term care policies and procedures
- Participate with other department managers in the planning, development, and education of programs essential to the delivery of quality care to patients and families.
- Orientation of new employees as directed and in-service training of Oroville Hospital personnel.
- Supervision and coordination of community group(s) who are initiating and providing services to patients related to their mental health and other welfare needs.
- Ensuring ethical practice and guide social workers in ethical decision-making and ensure adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Complete all performance evaluations for social work staff.
- Other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.
