Job Summary

The Lab Outreach Supervisor is responsible for all draw station operations including scheduling, specimen collection and transport logistics, educating, and counseling of staff, knowledge of all related regulations and guidelines, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels to enable the Laboratory to maximize and maintain the volume of business.  The Lab Outreach Supervisor will utilize effective management skills, excellent customer service skills, documentation skills, effective communication skills, organizational skills and computer skills.

The Lab Outreach Supervisor will implement a service plan for all new markets and clients to include phlebotomy service, courier pickups, contact resources and ongoing client service.  In implementing service plans the Coordinator will utilize; organizational skills, customer service skills, computer skills and communication skills. 

The Lab Outreach Supervisor will be responsible for providing ongoing service and effective problem solving to the Laboratory customer base and staff. Success of the Laboratory Outreach Supervisor will be measured in overall laboratory viability.

 

Duties

  1. Identify service needs of current and new clients.
  2. Maintain high-quality, trained and educated staff.
  3. Develop and implement efficient and logistical courier routes.
  4. Maintain contact with established accounts at least every other week or as needed, either by phone or in person.
  5. Interact with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about products and services and to handle and resolve complaints.
  6. Stay informed about product lines and regulations/guidelines.
  7. Research inquiries and / or products for customers.
  8. Monitor trends that indicate the need for new products or services.
  9. Initiate, develop, and evaluate outreach staff to encourage professionalism and productiveness in outreach locations
  10. Perform evaluations, guidance and development of outreach staff
  11. Inspect and Maintain courier vehicles and equipment for appropriate safety and public image.
  12. Direct and coordinate courier activities to promote products and services.
  13. Communicate, implement and interpret client service policies and procedures with clients, client service personnel, and other departments.
  14. Train courier service and patient service center personnel.
  15. Maintain records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken. Follow up to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customer’s problems.
  16. Investigate prolonged client service dissatisfaction and recommend a course of action.
  17. Report all unusual and / or non-routine inquires to the Administrative Laboratory Director to ensure client satisfaction.
  18. Ensure that courier service and patient service center personnel maintain a positive, client focused attitude.
  19. Work closely with the Administrative Laboratory Director to arrange staffing and coverage for all outreach clients.
  20. Coordinates with the Administrative Laboratory Director and Phlebotomy Supervisor to resolve all outreach personnel corrective actions and compliance issues.
  21. Account management activities as needed.
  22. Assumes additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Administrative Laboratory Director.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned

Lifting Requirements:

Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, or controls; each with hands and arms; and talk to hear. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods, occasionally required to sit, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.

Generally lifting objects not more than 25 lbs. and/or carrying objects weighing 10 lbs.
