  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by California State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced training in statistics, epidemiology, microbiology, and infection control
  • Two years of experience in an acute care hospital
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with patients, families, physicians and community agencies
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ongoing attendance of seminars, workshops, and conferences in infection control and infectious diseases and Employee Health
  • Participate in continuing education
  • Attend bi-monthly Association of Practitioners in Infection Control Meetings
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written skills
  • Professional Certifications

    Responsibilities: 

    Job Summary

    The Director Employee Health/Infection Control/WC has the responsibility of supervising and implementing the multiple facets of the Infection Control and Employee Health program. The Director Employee Health/Infection Control acts as liaison for all team members, collecting and correlating data, reporting information on Infection Control Policies and Procedures. The Employee Health/Infection Control Director responsibilities include that of Employee Health Nurse and management of the Employee Health Program.

    Duties

    • Detect and record nosocomial infections on a systematic and current basis, analyze such infections, and prepare a monthly infection reports to Administration which will be submitted to the Infection Control Committee
    • Conduct epidemiologic investigation of significant infection problems in collaboration with Administration and the Infection Control Chairman
    • Ongoing review and update of the Infection Control Manual reflecting current state-of-the-art principles and practices in infection control
    • Write (and assist in the implementation of) Administrative Infection Control policies and procedures in compliance with regulations, guidelines and/or mandates of county, state, and federal agencies, (i.e., C.D.C, OSHA, Title 22, and CMS)
    • Notify the County Health Department of all reportable diseases. Assist Health Department nurses in obtaining information for follow-up of reportable diseases as directed by Administration
    • Provide orientation to new employees regarding Infection Control principles and assists department managers, at their request, in ongoing continuing education
    • Serve as a consultant to the Nursing Services, Ancillary Services, and Administration regarding infection control, purchase of all equipment and supplies used for sterilization, disinfection, and decontamination purposes
    • Provides education and support to staff, patients and their families by personal consultation, films and printed material
    • Is responsible for the overall management and support of Oroville Hospitals Occupational Safety and Health Administration Blood Borne Pathogens Standard Compliance Program and Tuberculosis Exposure Control Plan
    • Is responsible for the overall management and support of Oroville Hospitals Employee Health and Workers Compensation Program
    • Is responsible for the overall management and support of Oroville Hospital National Healthcare Safety Network reporting system
    • Is responsible for Environment of Care surveillance and reporting to Administration, which will be submitted to the Infection Control Committee.
    • Supervise annual PPD program
    • Supervise HCW vaccine program
    • Coordinate annual influenza vaccine program
    • Performs other duties as assigned
