1.Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of California
2.BSN preferred
3.CNOR – Certified Perioperative Nurse preferred at hire, expected within one year of hire
4.Experience as a charge nurse for at least two years
5.Demonstrated progressive management experience
6.Excellent communication skills
7.Highly flexible with schedule
8.Good problem solving techniques
9.Current BLS
10.ACLS Certified
11.PALS Certified, within 6 months of hire

Job Summary
The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities of the Operating Room, Central Sterile and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
Duties
- Responsible for staffing and scheduling all staff
- 24 hour responsibility ensuring staff coverage through appropriate staff scheduling
- Responsible for staffing/scheduling in a cost effective manner
- Delegates responsibility
- Ensures that staff skills, competencies and educational needs are met
- Ensures that infection prevention procedures are utilized to maintain safe and quality care of the surgical patient
- Responsible for the development and revision of protocols, procedures, forms and electronic documentation
- Develops and interprets departmental policy and procedures
- Evaluates physical facilities, equipment and supplies to ensure safe nursing care
- Acts as liaison between department Medical Director, Vice President of Nursing, Administration and staff
- Works with organization directors and leaders to improve patient care
- Provides on going quality improvement monitors to ensure quality of patient care
- Assists with improving Organizational Performance
- Assists with development and implementation of new service lines
- Exhibits progressive professional development
- Demonstrates reliability and flexibility
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements

Functional Demands
Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
