Oroville Hospital Introduces Two New Physicians

Oroville Hospital is excited to announce the arrival of two new physicians, Cardiologist, Dr. Michael Johnston and General Surgeon, Dr. Elizabeth Johnston.  Dr. Michael Johnston will be joining the current Cardiology Practice with Dr. Deepak Khanna, located at 2721 Olive Highway in Suite 12B. Dr. Elizabeth Johnston will be joining the Surgical Specialist Practice with Dr. Steven Fletcher, Dr. Randell Skau, Dr. Milton Conley, and Dr. Ravi Nagubandi.  The practice is located at 2809 Olive Highway, in Suite 220.

Both attended and met at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California.  They went on to attend medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed their residency at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.  Dr. Michael Johnston has a fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.  He is a board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.  Dr. Elizabeth Johnston completed her residency in General Surgery and has a special interest in Breast Surgery.  Before coming to Oroville Hospital she worked for Veterans Affairs at the Omaha VA Medical Center in Nebraska.

Dr. Elizabeth Johnston is passionate about breast cancer and has specialized training in breast surgery.  “Being a woman, I know how serious breast cancer can be.  I chose to specialize in breast surgery because I wanted to be a part of the process and be able to help women and guide them through the process of breast cancer.  I enjoy being a part of the patient’s life on a long-term basis.”

While Dr. Elizabeth Johnston has a special focus on breast surgery she will also be performing general surgery, including esophageal, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and hernias.

Dr. Michael Johnston is an Interventional Cardiologist and is enthusiastic about preventative cardiology and the affects your diet has on your health.  “I have an interest in preventing cardio-vascular disease before it leads to a heart attack.  I enjoy talking with my patients about the importance of a healthy diet and the consequences a bad diet has on your heart.  There is a lot of education that can be done and I am happy I am able to be a part of it.”

With the focus of prevention, Dr. Michael Johnston will deal with all disorders of the heart.  He will perform stress test, echocardiograms, general cardiology and interventional cardiology.

Both are excited to be a part of the Oroville Hospital team and are a great addition to the hospital and community.  For questions or more information on Dr. Michael Johnston, please call his office at 532-8609.  For questions or more information on Dr. Elizabeth Johnston, please call the Surgery Practice at 532-8161.  All insurances are accepted.
