April 28th, 2014

Oroville Hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® program, receiving the 2014 Gold Plus Award; the highest level awarded. The program recognizes hospitals for their success in using Get With The Guidelines to improve quality of care for stroke patients.

Get With The Guidelines® puts the unparalleled expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping hospital care teams ensure that the care provided to stroke patients is aligned with the latest evidence-based guidelines. The goal of participating in Get With The Guidelines is to save lives.

Hospitals can earn either a bronze, silver, silver plus, gold, or gold plus rating. Hospitals receiving the Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement Award have reached an aggressive goal of treating stroke patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for 12 consecutive months. In addition, those hospitals have demonstrated 75% compliance with 7 out of 10 stroke quality measures during the 12-month period.

Mary Jarschke, a registered nurse and Oroville Hospital’s stroke program coordinator, was jubilant, “What gets us really excited is seeing the lives we’re impacting. Every minute counts with stroke, so everybody has to be on the same page when a patient comes to the hospital with stroke symptoms.

“Being honored for excellent patient care is the best recognition a hospital can receive. At Oroville Hospital, we care about our patients, and this award shows what can be accomplished with a supportive administration and a team of professionals that are passionate about their work. It’s a difference that shows in the lives of patients and their families.”
