Oroville Hospital Reduces Hospital Charges By 30 Percent

04.18.2016

Oroville Hospital announces a 30 percent reduction in hospital charges for patients in an effort to make health care accessible and more affordable for everyone in the community. The price reduction is a voluntary effort to combat the rising costs of health care. Rising costs have made it difficult for many to afford and receive timely medical care.

“This reduction is just one way Oroville Hospital has committed to promoting a healthier community,” said Robert J. Wentz, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our team spent a lot of time reviewing hospital charges to better assess how we could make medical care more affordable.”

Health care prices have risen dramatically over the last decade. In addition, Affordable Care Act mandates require consumers to purchase health insurance in order to avoid penalties. Now, more than ever, individuals are being forced to dedicate more of their income to medical bills.

By reducing prices, individuals who do not have insurance coverage will be able to pay less for comprehensive medical care at Oroville Hospital. The price reduction is also beneficial for individuals with high insurance deductibles as they end up paying less out-of-pocket for medical services.

“Our goal with this price reduction was to adjust service charges to more closely reflect Oroville Hospital’s actual operating costs and reimbursement models,” said Ashok Khanchandani, Chief Financial Officer.

With the new pricing model, Oroville Hospital emerges as a leader and example for other hospitals. Patients seeking affordable health care can rest assured knowing that Oroville Hospital is providing value by enabling patients to receive more for less, while still maintaining high quality care.
