Oroville Hospital nurses, administrators, cafeteria workers, and maintenance personnel gathered together the Tuesday morning before Thanksgiving to pack and deliver 23 Thanksgiving dinners for those in need in the Oroville community. Each dinner included turkey, mash potatoes and gravy, stuffing, corn, green beans, cranberries, dinner rolls and butter, and, of course, pumpkin pie.

Three trucks then spread out across Oroville to deliver the meals to the families’ homes.
The recipients were chosen by the African American Family & Cultural Center in Oroville. The center’s Executive Director, Bobby Jones Jr. said, “Working with Oroville Hospital in providing Thanksgiving baskets, has been a great opportunity to help families here in the Oroville area. On behalf of all the families served, we here at the African American Family & Cultural Center want to say thank you Oroville Hospital for sharing the gift of giving this Thanksgiving 2013.”
Karen Norris, Director of Nutritional Services at Oroville Hospital said, “Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for what we have and for what we can give. I believe that everyone deserves a wonderful Thanksgiving feast.”
This is the second year Oroville Hospital has delivered free Thanksgiving meals to the community. Norris added, “This is a tradition we plan on continuing for many years to come.”
